We used the picture to the left to remind ourselves of some of the key events. Click on the picture to open it full size, and with the person sitting next to you see what you can remember about each event.

In today’s lesson we are going to be revising some of the key information from the powerpoint set of notes. If you haven’t got them with you, then you can open an electronic copy.

You should then try to find the following key facts on the notes.
We will then look together at some example exam style source questions. Your answers to these should be returned to me by Monday.
And finally, here is a word shoot out game based on the key facts from today’s lesson.

The key messages about technique that you identified were spot on:

- Answer the question set
- Attempt every question
- Use details from the sources and own knowledge

If you want to look at it again, here is the exam paper [on the OCR website] and here are the example answers from the boys.

If you want to deepen your understanding about the boom then have a look on the Boom and Bust page.

The handout from the lesson will really help you answer the practice exam questions. However if you are looking to deepen your understanding it would be worth listening to this podcast about appeasement and this one about Hitler’s foreign policy. There are also some useful BBC bitesize videos on this topic, I have put links to them at the bottom of the international relations page.

Border disputes in the 1920s

The useful document that I gave out at Easter ‘boot camp’, and again today, can be downloaded here. If you want to practise or repeat the reading race we did in lesson, the questions can be found here. Finally, if you are looking to break up your revision here are the revision games that we played at the end of the lesson.

It has been really encouraging seeing lots of you at revision over the last couple of weeks. It is really important that you continue to revise outside of lessons, so that our in class revision can focus on key skills and techniques for the exams. In today’s lesson we looked at the Treaty of Versailles. In particular you need to know:

- Europe in 1918
- Aims and motives of the Big Three
- Terms of the Treaty (GARGLE)
- Reactions and impact on Germany
- Arguments whether it was justified
- Reactions of the victors
- The other treaties

If you are looking to add detail to your notes, or you want to learn a section in a different way then look at some of the podcasts and videos on the International relations page.

Over a long weekend in March, the students learnt about the war in museums and at the sites of battles. They even walked through some of the trenches where Hitler had fought as an ordinary soldier nearly 100 years ago. The students also took parts in acts of remembrance at both the German and British cemeteries. The students were a real credit to the college and their community. Their respectful attitude at the cemeteries greatly impressed the staff who accompanied them.

They also looked at the different types of volcanoes around the world and the different threats and opportunities they present. However, the highlight of the lessons involved the students building and exploding their own volcanoes. The World Studies department would like to thay Miss Cole for her help in building the towering volcanoes!
